SID: Hello. Sid Roth here. Welcome to my world where it’s naturally supernaturally. I love the rarified air of Heaven and I love when God shows His name so strong. My guest, Kevin Basconi, spent 30 years as an abuser with what, alcohol, drugs.
KEVIN: Alcohol and all sorts of drugs, Sid.
SID: How does someone devote 30 years of their life in Hell and instantly get set free? How could God do such a wonderful thing? God must be more love than we can even fathom. Tell me about that day.
KEVIN: Well I believe it was the answer to my family’s prayers. But my brother invited me to a small church. To be honest with you I didn’t want to go to church. I thought Christians were all hypocrites. And I remember in the church service the pastor preaching, and I thought I can’t wait to get out of here so I can go find some way to get high. And something happened. As that man was speaking God touched my heart. I found myself at the altar. And when I knelt down and asked Jesus to become my Lord I was instantaneous delivered from 30 years of drug and alcohol addiction.
SID: But then what is wild to me is so many supernatural wonderful things started happening to you. Tell me a few.
KEVIN: Sid, I saw in the Bible where this man named Jesus fasted and prayed and I wanted to know if God was real, because really I wasn’t seeing Him in church. And I began to fast and pray, and read the Bible.
SID: Wait. You’re set free from 30 years of addiction.
KEVIN: This is true, but I wanted to know that God was real. And so I began to read the Bible, and then fragrances at times would begin to come from the binding of an old King James Bible that someone gave me. I began to have visitations of angels. God spoke to me on March 13, 2001 in an audible voice and told me to begin to reach out the lost in my city, which I began to do.
SID: Tell me about the time you were directed to a hospital.
KEVIN: Well I was in prayer and I began to have visions and I would see things, and I began to correlate that when I would do the things in the visions supernatural things would happen. And I was praying, God had crossed me a bit. And I had a small home, and I saw in the vision a hospital in our local city. I saw the hospital room with four women in there. So I said, well I need to go to that hospital. And Sid, when I did, I went into the room. The four women were there just like I saw in the vision. The Lord had given me a word of knowledge. I prayed for this woman.
SID: Wait. Just out of curiosity, did you just go from room to room to find these women?
KEVIN: No. I walked right to the room. It was 301, I believe. And I walked right in there and I said–
SID: How did you know which room? It’s a big hospital.
KEVIN: I saw it in a vision. I went in the room. I did what I saw in the vision. The woman was healed. She received Christ as her savior, and also the three women who were with her also received Jesus.
SID: Now this is normal. Do you believe this is supposed to be normal for every believer?
KEVIN: It should be normal for everyone, Sid. Everyone should know this.
SID: Tell me about the time you received your calling.
KEVIN: I was in a small church in Springville, Newfoundland, Canada, and the Lord opened up my eyes and I began to see the spirit. And I saw a portal open in the church sanctuary, and I began to see angels first, and then I saw the Lord and he stepped down into the church service, and He began to look at everyone in the meeting, and He looked into the hearts of the different people there, and I remember laying on the floor and I could feel the power and the glory of Jesus. I felt God’s unconditional love for us as human beings. He loves us all. And as I was watching Jesus he walked over to me and stood over me, and he spoke to me from the Bible, and he says, “I’m calling you,” and he said, “I want you to go into the whole world and preach the Gospel,” and he said, “I want you to baptize in the name of the Father and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and I’ll be with you everywhere.” And then he touched my hand and he blew upon my hand, and it felt like warm oil rolled from my left hand down to my elbow. And I couldn’t speak, I couldn’t think. I just looked into the most beautiful eyes in the world, the eyes of Jesus, and he put my hand gently back upon my chest and that totally transformed my life, Sid.
SID: And there was a moment when he showed you some angels that were to accompany you your whole life, and he showed you one at a time. Tell me about that.
KEVIN: That happened a little bit later. I was in prayer and I saw the Lord. He was motioning to me to come to him like this, and I had a decision to make. Either I could go to Jesus or I could continue to pray to him in my little room. And so I chose to go to the Lord. And when I did it was like I was in a high speed elevator and I could feel myself being catapulted and my spirit, I believe, came out of my body, and I went up into the realms of Heaven, and I came to rest in the very presence of Jesus, and he was flanked by these four angels. He took his left hand and made a motion like this. He said, “Today, I’ve called you here to tell you who you are. I’ve called you to be an artist, an author and an evangelist, and I’m assigning these four angels to your ministry.” Now Sid, I was a new believer, so I didn’t know what to think, because I didn’t have a ministry. And almost as quickly as the vision or the encounter began it was over and I found myself back in my prayer closet just weeping uncontrollably. I weeped for weeks after that encounter.
SID: What was the first angel that you were introduced to?
KEVIN: Sometime later I had a similar experience where I was taken up into the realms of Heaven, and the Lord assigned an angel to me, and He said that this angel was assigned to release protection and provision. And it was very shortly after that that the Lord began to activate me or to loosen me to release this angel to help me and other people.
SID: Now just out of curiosity, here you’re coming from all these years of drug abuse and you decide I’d like a wife. I would like a house, but you got even more specific. You’re a fisherman. You wanted some bass at the house.
KEVIN: Right.
SID: What happened?
KEVIN: Actually, one of my friends and I were fishing. He says, “You know, God is answering all your prayers so supernaturally, you should pray for a wife.” I said I’m not gonna do that. But later that night I was in my home, my little house and I was praying. And I thought, you know, that’s a good idea. So I started praying. Sid, I prayed up the best wife, and to make a long story short I wanted her to beautiful. I wanted her to be intelligent. I wanted her to be kind. I wanted her to live on a house on a lake that had bass in it so I could go fishing. So I just prayed this wonderful list. And then God began to bring, for the next seven days, everywhere I went there would be at worship services and churches, the pastor or whoever happened to be leading the meeting would say, “Take the person’s hand next to you.” And it was always a beautiful young lady. And the Lord would speak to me and say, “You want this one for your wife?” And so finally after seven days I repented. I said, “God, I’m sorry, because I prayed a selfish prayer. I want to serve you.” And the Lord spoke to me and he said, “If you want to walk in the places I’ve preordained for you, you need to wait and let me pick the perfect wife for you.” So sometime later, three and half years later, I was in my home in Kansas City, in my hot tub on the back deck reading a book, and the Holy Spirit spoke to me and he says, “Kevin, where are you?” I said I’m in the hot tub. He says, “Where’s the hot tub?” I said, “It’s in my house.” And he says, “Who’s in the house?” And I said, “My wife.” And then he says, “Where’s the house?” I said, “It’s on the lake filled with bass.” And so I realized that the Lord in his mercy in His perfect timing gave me everything that I had prayed for three and a half years before, but in His way.
